A Day in San Francisco

Have some time to spare in San Francisco?  I highly encourage you to visit the following places to make your trip more memorable. Eats: The Mission District As a self-proclaimed foodie, I was so excited to explore San Francisco’s Mission District.  It is becoming more well known for it’s creative ventures into the world of food.  Definitely stop in at Tartine Bakery in the Mission District for a minimalist environment with maximum taste.  I definitely recommend their Bavarian fruit cake.  Enjoy a few small, tapas-style plates from the Peruvian influenced restaurant Limon Rotisserie.  The truffle mac & cheese will not be a disappointment.  Walk over to Dandelion Chocolate to see a small-batch chocolatier in action and obviously indulge in decadent morsels.  The Dulce de Leche Bar is a really beautiful thing… Views: Baker Beach Catch a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge from this local beach hangout.  I was thankful to have the view of the timeless bridge without the excessive number of people trying to walk or bike over the bridge as is …

Embrace The Mocktail

Recently a friend of mine and I got into an epic fancy drink creation battle.  Ok…so it wasn’t quite that epic, but we had a good time.  I was also incredibly satisfied with one drink I made with black & blueberries.  My favorite part of the drink (besides the taste, obviously) is the vivid color.  It makes a great contrast to any summer table setting. Black & Blueberry Mocktail Servings: 1 short tumbler Ingredients: 2-3 fresh blackberries 5-6 fresh blueberries 3 mint leaves 1 lime 1/2 oz. agave nectar 5 oz. club soda 1. Using a cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries, blueberries, and mint leaves with the juice of half a lime in the bottom of the shaker. 2. Add in the agave nectar and club soda and stir. 3. Using a strainer with semi-large holes, strain the mixture into a glass with ice.  I like to have some of the berry-mint bits come through, so I don’t suggest a fine sieve.  However, you do you, so strain however you like! 4. Enjoy!

The Little Things | Thoughts on Self-Care

Josh and I are aiming to get out of the rental game and into owning our own home.  For those of you who have done this, I am sure you already know what I’m feeling these days.  I go through a bit of an emotional roller coaster every time we decide we want to put an offer on a house and it gets snatched up by someone else.  The market is pretty tight right now, so I am constantly trying to exercise patience.  It’s tough because even though I mentally coach myself not to become emotionally attached to a house, I can’t help but invest part of myself into each offer.  So it’s up when we find something we like, and it’s down when the ordeal falls through. Yesterday I hung up my school counselor hat for the summer, so I decided to take things slowly today.  I had a few things to take care of around the house.  As you all know, laundry never seems to do itself unfortunately.  During that moment when both …
